Preparing for Day 8 & Beyond

Should a disaster strike, it is estimated that Maui, Molokai and Lānaʻi has only a 7-day commercial food supply. Maui Emergency Feeding Taskforce is preparing the islands for Day 8 and beyond so that organizations have access to better data and research to improve food security. An estimated 40 percent of the county’s population is already considered food insecure. This program focuses on these core areas.

  • Advocacy for progressive policies for better resource management and conservation
  • Community resilience initiatives to address cause of food insecurity and poverty

What We Do

  • Foster collaboration to ensure efficient and equitable distribution of food during emergencies

  • Collect data from response efforts

  • Develop strategies for better long-term food security and emergency feeding systems
