Maui’s future depends on strong communities, resilient families and bold ideas that create lasting change. The Ola Maui Nui Grant invests in organizations that are making a different in four areas: community recovery, creating financial security, ensuring food resiliency and establishing healthy communities across Maui, Molokai and Lānaʻi.

Across Maui County, rising costs put growing pressure on working families, making it harder to afford housing, food, childcare, health care and other essentials.

Maui United Way’s Ola Maui Nui Grant invests in local nonprofits that share our belief that strong communities don’t happen by chance. They’re built by organizations doing the hard work to strengthen health, food systems, resilience and financial security.

By supporting trusted nonprofit organizations across Maui, Molokai and Lānaʻi, the fund aims to help people navigate today’s challenges while building a stronger, more resilient future.

$2.7 million investment in Maui Nui

Maui United Way anticipates investing up to $2.7 million in FY26-27 through the Ola Maui Nui Grant program. Eligible nonprofits may request up to $100,000 to support programs, services and initiatives across Maui, Molokai and Lānaʻi.

Organizations may submit one application per review cycle. If not selected, organizations may apply again in the next cycle.

Ola Maui Nui Grant applications for Cycle 1 are open Sept. 1 through Oct. 31, 2026. Before applying, review the full Request for Proposals for eligibility, funding priorities, allowable expenses, evaluation criteria and reporting expectations.

  • Healthy Community. Mental and behavioral health, health care access, domestic violence services, rehabilitation and recovery, culturally grounded healing, and arts and creative programs that promote healing, connection, and belonging

  • Food Resiliency. Food access and distribution, agricultural resilience, local food production, food processing and storage, food rescue, nutrition education and disaster-resilient food systems

  • Community Resiliency. Disaster preparedness and relief, emergency recovery resources, case management, unmet needs, community readiness and long-term recovery navigation

  • Financial Security. Housing stabilization, employment, emergency financial assistance, workforce development, financial coaching, benefits navigation and access to essential resources
