Maui United Way’s Maui Nui Response initiatives support residents of Maui, Molokai and Lāna‘i affected by disasters by providing resources for immediate relief, long-term recovery and community resilience. The program mobilizes as soon as disaster strikes to address urgent community needs while investing in solutions that support recovery and strengthen the well-being of our island communities.

A Coordinated Approach to Recovery
As a trusted leader focused on coordinating strategy, partnerships and resource mobilization across sectors, Maui United Way brings together nonprofits, businesses, government agencies and community leaders to ensure a unified and effective response during times of crisis.
Maui Nui Response provides flexible resources that can respond to evolving community needs. Funding may support emergency assistance, recovery programs, mental health services, housing stability, food security, financial assistance and other critical services that help individuals and families recover and rebuild.
Recovery extends beyond addressing immediate needs. The Maui Nui Response Fund also galvanizes efforts that strengthen local nonprofits and improve preparedness for future emergencies and disasters.
When severe Kona Low storms caused widespread flooding across the islands, Maui United Way quickly mobilized to support impacted communities. Through collaboration and rapid action, we helped ensure critical resources reached those who needed them most.
More than $300,000 in emergency aid has been distributed. Support included emergency grants for local nonprofits, financial assistance for affected households, food and essential supplies, Starlink internet access for isolated communities, and coordinated logistics to reach residents on Maui, Molokai and Hāna.

Recovery is long-term and needs change over time. Maui United Way works with local partners to understand what remains unmet, direct resources responsibly, and communicate how the fund’s purpose evolves from immediate relief to recovery and readiness.
Maui United Way brings together nonprofits, businesses, government and community leaders to coordinate recovery efforts and direct resources where they are needed most. Rather than supporting a single program or nonprofit, your gift strengthens a network of trusted local partners addressing critical needs across Maui, Molokai and Lāna‘i.
Maui Nui Response Fund
Your 100% tax-deductible gift to the Maui Nui Response Fund deploys rapid relief and recovery support for residents of Maui, Molokai and Lānaʻi impacted by disasters. Through Maui United Way’s trusted network of partners, donations are directed where they are needed most to help communities respond, recover and rebuild.
