As living costs rise across Maui County, many working households earn too much to qualify for traditional assistance, yet struggle to cover basic needs. Income alone doesn’t tell the full story of financial vulnerability.
The County-funded Kamaʻāina Credit for ALICE Households Pilot Program provides an opportunity for monthly financial support while studying the needs of working households too often caught in the gap. ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
Applications: October 19–November 20, 2026
Eligible households selected through a randomized selection process may receive $500–$800 monthly for 12 months. This credit is not a loan and does not need to be repaid.
Before applying: Review the household income brackets, earned-income requirements, and full eligibility criteria.
